Murder Bears, Dead Billionaires, and the Year of Saying Howdy
A goodwill tour going coast to coast
End of a new book and the Beginning of an old one
Issue 6 of BENEATH THE TREES is being printed up and prepped for shipping as I type this. It’s a bittersweet feeling to close out a project that has been such a wonderful ride. The final issue will hit shops on May 8, and the collected trade will be available on Sept. 10. And as we bring this book to a close, I’m happy to announce that I’m breathing new life into an older project, and we’re doing a print-run for the first time ever for FREE FOR ALL with the fine folks over at Zoop.
Welcome to the future. The world is at peace and thriving. Housing, food, education, healthcare… all of the basic requirements for living are now provided for by the World Finance League, and it’s all funded by a lottery. Wealthy citizens of the world are picked at random and given the choice to either donate half of their assets for the greater good of the world, or fight to the death to keep it all. Among these trillionaire gladiators, two former lovers square off in this global arena to settle their differences once and for all.
Regardless of who lives or dies, we all win :) Click here to be notified once the campaign goes live in a couple of weeks. Lots of fun goodies to go along with this exclusive run. Thrilled to finally be able to hold a physical copy of this one!!
Time to Mention the Conventions
At the end of last month I had my first proper table at a con. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by WonderCon! It was amazing to meet so many wonderful people. Hearing their thoughts on the book never stops getting old, but I was blown away by also hearing where they were at in their lives when they crossed paths with it. There are literally billions of journeys that we’re all on, and it’s humbling to weave a thread that can connect with some of them.
So what are we up to next?
C2E2
I’ll be tabling at this year’s C2E2 April 26-18 at T-10 in Artist Alley. I’ve been looking forward to this con for a while, and I’m excited to finally get the chance to go. On top of getting to meet readers along with all of the other excellent artists that will be tabling there,
Panel Alert: I’ll also be on a panel with the venerable Tony Fleecs and Trish Forstner. Filthy Animals: A Horror Comics Discussion will be held on Friday, April 26 at 3:45pm in room S401-ABC. I feel like it’s safe to say a Venn diagram for the fans of Stray Dogs, Feral, and Beneath the Trees is almost a complete circle. It made all the sense in the world to get together and plunge under the surface for a discussion on all things cute and terrifying.
At my table we’ll have lots of limited variants with options for remarks and some special goodies that we’re prepping this week.
…and Beyond!
Going forward, we’re putting together an ambitious list of other cons that I’m planning to attend including:
Comic Con Revolution (Ontario, CA) May 18 -19
Fan Expo Dallas June 7-9
Fan Expo Boston June 14 -16
San Diego Comic-Con July 25-28 (pending)
Fan Expo Canada (Toronto) August 22-25
LA Comic Con October 4-6
New York Comic-Con October 17-20
So mark your calendars. If I’m passing through your area, I’d love to see you!
That’s probably plenty of updates for now. I’ll have more to share soon! Take care, and I’ll be in touch :)
